About Saint Peter's University Hospital
For a century, Saint Peter's University Hospital has been serving the health care needs of central New Jersey. From its incorporation in 1908, Saint Peter's has grown to become a technologically-advanced, 478-bed teaching hospital, sponsored by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Metuchen, that provides a broad array of services to the community–from sophisticated care of premature babies to specialized geriatric medicine. Saint Peter's University Hospital is a member of the Saint Peter's Healthcare System along with the Saint Peter's Foundation and Saint Peter's Health and Management Services.
As a state-designated acute care children's hospital, Saint Peter's offers a full range of specialized pediatric health care services, including one of the most sophisticated maternity programs available, delivering approximately 6,100 newborns annually. As part of its hospital-wide renovation program launched in 2006, Saint Peter's opened a new single-bed maternity unit in February 2008, and renovations are currently under way for a second, single-bed maternity unit.
The Children's Hospital at Saint Peter's University Hospital operates one of the largest, most advanced neonatal intensive care units in the country as a state-designated Regional Perinatal Center. Through its affiliation with The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, the CHOP Cardiac Center at Saint Peter's was established to provide highly specialized care close to home.
